Our topic this term is "Me and My World".

This term we will be learning about hot and cold countries and making comparisons. The children will be using non- fiction books to help them make fact files of different polar animals. We will also be looking at African stories, such as Handa's Surprise and using this book for a stimulus for drama and writing.

Here are some examples of some of the books we will be looking at this term

Also, this term we will be celebrating Chinese New Year as well as having our annual book week. This year we will be looking at books by the author Julia Donaldson. We will have a dress up day on Friday 9th February and the children can dress up as their favourite book character.

We will be having Stay and Play on Wednesday 7th February and we would love for you to join us for the afternoon.

This term we would also like to invite you to watch your child's first class assembly. Please find below the dates for the reception classes.

Your support at home is vital to the children's learning and development. Please ensure they have their book bag complete with reading book and reading record in school every day and listen to them reading their reading book and practising the words as often as you can.

Talking to your children about what they have been doing at school is really important. Try to reduce "screen time", for example time on IPads and watching TV. Help your child to dress and undress by themselves and to eat with a knife and fork.

You should be receiving an email with regard to our online learning journeys soon. Please ensure you have provided us with an up to date email address. We send out all our observations of the children's learning once a half term.

Please remember to remove earrings on PE days (Tuesdays for red and blue class, Thursdays for green and yellow class). Please also ensure that ALL items of clothing are named, especially hats, and also ensure that children are wearing sun cream on hot days. Thank you.

We thank you for your continued support.

The Reception team.

We are looking forward to a super year with you and your children.
